For families without gardens, access to a park is invaluable. And the addition of swans and ducks provides a good diversion for any child, and adults too! Harrow Lodge Park is in the London Borough of Haverling, near Upminster, and is blessed with a lovely little cafe. A major attraction today was a family of Egyptian Geese (see below right). The parents were loudly protective of their young, shooting away the curious swans and passers by. A bird watcher said he was concerned for the chicks as they had hatched rather late in the year and needed to get some adult plumage soon before winter came. Let's hope they have survived.
