A road trip to Ipoh (22-27 Feb 2017)

Lawrence and I decided we needed to escape our flat and go on a trip to Ipoh (543km north west from Johor Bahru). I asked our friend Hanis Harun for suggestions of where to stopover on the way, and the end result was a complicated itinerary which clearly sent us mad (see photo above!). On Weds 22nd Feb, we set off with Hanis to explore Paya Indah Wetlands and Morib, with regards to her business opportunities. On Thurs 23rd Feb, we explored Kuala Selangor and the rice paddies of Sekinchan, before staying overnight at Felda Residence Hot Springs. On Fri 24th, Hanis did a recce of the hot spring facilities while Lawrence practised his drone-flying skills, and I looked on for his safety. We all then checked out the white water rafting possibilities in Sungkai before meeting up with Hanis’s family at the caves in Gua Tempurung. On Sat 25th, we walked around Ipoh following the Ipoh Heritage Trail, tried and failed to find the Sam Poh Tong temple, so headed off to Kellie’s Castle. We parted company on the Sunday, so Lawrence and I visited the Han Chin Pet Soo History Museum, looked for more of the famous murals of Ipoh, and headed off again to the Chinese Cave Temples. We drove straight back to Johor Bahru on Mon 27th, taking about 6h on the highway with a couple of brief stops.

I have broken up these locations into separate blogs, so please pick any of interest to you.
