Windhoek is the capital city of Namibia, and is home to 15% of the 2-plus million Namibians. Namibia has a strange history as a German colony which means that people in Windhoek first talk to you in German, even the street peddlers do this!
We started our visit at the Tourist Information Centre, where I saw these colourful wooden statues; didn’t see antone dressed like this in real life though!
Soviet-style monument to the fallen indigenous peoples of Namibia; they really did have a terrible time during German occupation in the early 1900’s.
The Rider - commemorates the German genocide of the Herero peoples.
Just off the main street was this quaint Christus Kirch (a Lutherian Church), but it was closed.
