On 19th August 2020, we embarked on a 22-day road trip around Malaysia. We had delayed our return to the UK because of the Covid pandemic, and after several months of lockdown had a brief moment when were allowed to drive more than 10 km from home. More importantly, we could now cross state lines. So we decided to drive up the east coast from our home in Johor Bahru to the northernmost state of Kelantan, then across country to Alor Setar, and back down the west coast. Much of this trip involved visiting places new to us, and of course following all the various Covid restrictions. Little did we know what a real treat this would be because soon after this we were mostly confined to our flat until September 2021 when we finally left Malaysia to return to the UK.
During this trip we made 5-minute videos for each day, and wrote our blogs, etc, which went on our websites (
helengray.net and
lawrencegray.net), then put everything together in a flip book which you can download. Unfortunately the links to the vlogs and blogs in the flip book do not work from here, but they are all on our websites if you want more!
