I think the most interesting reptile I saw was this small flap-necked chameleon. Its body was about four inches long but one could not say it was well camouflaged! Yet later when I was looking at my collection of bird photos, I noticed there was a flap-necked chameleon climbing the bush above the head of the bird.
Crocodiles were often seen around the hippo pools and were accompanied by grey herons and Egyptian geese who seemed to take no notice of them.
This is a deadly puff adder lying dead at the side of the track.
This is a tiny lizard warming itself on a kopi. I have been unable to identify this though.
This is the shell of a leopard tortoise. From the way it is cracked, it is likely that the tortoise was snapped up by a bird of prey who then dropped it from a great height, causing it to crack open and allow the bird to eat the unprotected animal.
This is the intact shell of a dead tortoise which likely died in a fire from which it could not escape.
