The secretary bird became my favourite on this trip. They were large enough for even my camera lens to see and always in pairs. And rarely flew away when they heard the vehicle. As we drove along the tracks, you could always see birds in the nearby bushes and trees, but they invariably flew away as the vehicle approached. Then if you tried to get a photo of a bird in flight, it always flew away from you so you had a backside view! Exactly the same thing happened with the mammals as well. In some of the photos the birds appear quite small. This is because they were some distance away and the image quality is insufficient to blow up the image, or because I wanted to include some aspect /context of the countryside in the photo.
