Day 10 of our Malaysian Road Trip was one of the two most holiest days in the Muslim calendar; this was Hari Raya Haji (31st July 2020), and a national holiday. And it was pouring with rain! So we took the opportunity to be lazy and have a lie-in. As we were not sure what would be open today, we decided to head first to Chinatown (Pekan Cina) and then go in search of more buildings of interest. We returned to the Padang Court area in the centre of town for a closer inspection, then went looking for Wat Samosornrajanukpradit (Buddhist temple) but missed the turning. Instead we stopped next to the Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthanam Hindu temple, which was just across the road, and came across the striking Wat Nikrodharam (Buddhist temple). Sadly all the temples were closed because of the COVID-19 restrictions, but I still managed to take far too many photos! Then we stopped nearer the centre of town to find Istana Sepachendera and Istana Kuning. Don’t forget to check out the slide show of all the photos on our Malaysian Travels Facebook Page.

That evening we had booked a table at the Sky View restaurant for 6:30 pm, which should have meant cocktails and sunset. Well it poured with rain and there was no sunset in sight. We did have cocktails, but I don’t think there was much alcohol in them, and the food and service was so so, making a disappointing end to the day. So we returned to our hotel and finished editing the day’s video.
