Day 16 - Exploring the west of Taiping

IMG 2086

Taiping was proving to be a handy place to travel out from and explore the surrounding countryside. But first we had to visit the Perak State Museum to see how Perak wants to present itself to the world. As a coffee lover, I was looking forward to visiting the Antong Coffee Factory in Taiping before driving west to Kota Ngah Ibrahim, a fort which played an important role in the conflict between the Malays, the Chinese, and the British Resident of Perak in the late 1800’s. Then we drive to Kuala Sepetang on the coast where we lunched, visited a charcoal factory and a Dragon Joss Stick workshop. Finally back in Taiping to wander around the beautiful Taiping Lake Gardens, Another busy day!
