Day 5 of our Malaysian Road Trip (26th July 2020) started with an unsatisfactory breakfast compensated for by the magical view of the sea. We drove 45 min south to Kuala Terengganu, the capital city of the state of Terengganu. Our plan was to meet up with Hanis and her family at the main market, Pasir Payang, then visit the Crystal Mosque and the State Museum if it was open. Well Lawrence and I drove to the wrong Pasir Payang (Google Maps selected the one on Jalan Sultan Ismail, as opposed to Jalan Sultan Zainal Abidin), so we saw a bit more of Kuala Terengganu than we had planned. And given that it was a baking hot day, this left us a little drained. Still we continued with our plan and had a very full day of sightseeing. So full in fact that I have decided to devote a separate page to the main events (The Streets of Kuala Terengganu, Pasir Payang, The Crystal Mosque, Terengganu State Museum). Just click on the photos below to access these pages, and use the links at the bottom of the pages to return this page.

After a hot and exhausting tour of the city, we met up with Hanis and her family at a rather popular cafe called Syrup & Sugar for a late lunch/early supper. I ordered a mango lassi, expecting a refreshing drink. But I got this! It was huge and loaded with ice cream and cream, and it was soooo good! I was almost full by the time food arrived, but I did my best to eat it all!!!

As we returned to our hotel room, I noticed how beautiful the sky was so stayed out a bit longer to take this panorama.
