Day 6 - Merang to Kota Bharu

IMG 0417

We said goodbye to our travel companions on Day 6 of our Malaysian Road Trip (27th July 2020), but not before we had all visited a nearby Keropok Lekor shop. Then we took Hanis’s daughter and friend to Kuala Besut to catch their ferry back to the Perhentian Islands to take care of the turtles. We continued north up the coast road into Kelantan and our first stop at Pantai Cahaya Bulan (Moonlight beach) just northeast of the city of Kota Bharu. The afternoon and early evening were spent exploring the town centre.

We stayed at the Grand Riverview hotel for its convenient location, but getting a good night's sleep was a problem due to electrical noises and the need to remove a light bulb as the switch did not work. Overall, Kota Bharu was an interesting city to explore because everything was close together. And the main market, which we visited the next day, really was a must-visit place. But overall, the capital city of Kelantan looked much in need of an upgrade.

I have prepared separate pages for these different destinations today (Keropok Lekor, Pantai Cahaya Bulan, Istana Jahar, city centre heritage buildings, and the clock tower and river front). Just click on the photos below to access these pages, and use the links at the bottom of the pages to return this page.
