Bujang Valley Archeological Site Kedah is full of ancient history with evidence of a Hindu-Buddhist culture from the 2nd century A.D. This museum houses four reconstructed candi, excavated from near the Bujang River. Fascinating!

Gunung Jerai   Jerai Hill is a limestone outcrop, unmissable in the flat lands of Kedah. The whole area around here is very scenic with paddyfields galore, and there are plenty of hiking options.

Kota Kuala Kedah The old fort at Kuala Kedah is an easy 30 minute drive from Alor Setar to the west coast, and gives a fascinating glimpse into the local history of the region.

Langkawi This island has a well-founded reputation as a tropical paradise, suited to back packers and well-heeled travellers alike. The beaches are stunning, and the wilderness presents many opportunities for the adventurous (e.g., zip lining), and of the course the Sky Bridge is stunning.

Sungai Batu Archeological Site If you are interested in the ancient history of Malaysia, and you have already visited the Bujang Valley Archeological Site, then a visit here is highly recommended. This is an active archeological excavation site where history is being discovered.
