Yesterday we visited Radiant's new plant nursery, and today it was time to visit their Garden Farms, and for Lawrence to get some more drone footage for Hanis. We usually stay in Forest Lodge at Site A, so are very familiar with the landscape here. In fact, we have filmed most of our Floppy Dog movies in the durian orchard here as it is usually quiet and free of people. But now things are different. Hanis and her staff have given the grounds a makeover and now families can visit to enjoy the countryside, to play games, to fish and cook their own supper using vegetables harvested from the gardens, and to take photos for their Instagram accounts!

As you wander around, you will find strange new creatures… We had seen several bedraggled toy stuffed tigers around various locations on our road trip, and it was only today that we discovered their purpose. The tiger is supposed to scare away the local monkeys, who would otherwise help themselves to the new vegetation. A repellent scent is applied to the tiger to add to its effect but sadly the monkeys soon learn this trick. Personally, one of the great joys of staying here is to wake up to the sound of the monkeys hooting in the forrest, but only rarely have we seen one.

As well as selling instant gardens for  your balcony, Hanis has also started growing mushrooms which don’t require any green fingers at all!
