Day 4 - Off to Tebrau (10th April)

The Red Crescent sign on the windscreen of the MRC vehicle may look a little faded, but the Chef on Wheels team and the MRC made sure to bring some colour into the lives of another 300 people today (10th April). I have been travelling with the MRC now for almost two years and all throughout the COVID-19 period. It is very noticeable that the people on the receiving end of their community service this month are looking more run down than ever before. These are people who survived on little before, and the lack of nourishing food and the meagre hope of a speedy economic recovery must be quite hard to bare. The MRC runs a very tight ship, and of course is always in need of donations. Please remember that this is not a government-funded operation. The MRC survives on private donations, and no donation is too small to make a difference.

If you would like to make a donation to help the MRC with their work, you can contact Lekha Nandey (019 755 5600) and/or send funds to MRC Community Services - JB(2) at RHB JB Account 20114700068907.

The last set of 300 meals was destined today for another public housing estate, this time in PPRT Desaturate Mutiara, Tebrau. We weren’t in Block 2, but I rather liked the colourful decorations on these otherwise colourless buildings. There were quite a few smart cats here as I’m pretty sure they could smell the chicken!

The teams were helped by the local organisers to unpacked the boxes of food and figure out how best to serve the people as efficiently as safely as possible.

And the final group photo after fours days of cooking by the wonderful people of Chef on Wheels.
