Today the Malaysian Red Crescent were busy packing up bags with food stuffs to deliver to the needy in Johor. The Sunway Group had donation funds sufficient to help 700 families, and my intention was to film the MRC in action, from packing to delivery. But our visits to local schools this week had been postponed as visitor access was prohibited due to rising numbers of COVID-19 in the area. So, I came to their headquarters instead to make a short movie featuring the MRC volunteers. We are currently in the period before the major Hindu festival period of Deepavali, so many of these goody bags will be heading to Indian communities.
Coincidently, three people from the NGO Impian arrived to collect goody bags to give to five Indian families in their Stay in School program. Ms Kelly To (on the right) selects potential candidates in need of financial support, and then Allan Fernandez (second right) and Gerald Woo (left) perform the interviews and make the final selection.
So, the final video had a bit of everything in it and I very much hope it encourages the public to donate to the Malaysian Red Crescent to help them continue their important work.
